Dreamcatchers look very impressive but they are in fact simple to make. They make wonderful gifts and are can be strangely addictive to make. Begin by learning how to make a basic dreamcatcher which requires only one ring then, once you've mastered this, you can move on to bigger onces involving several.

you will need:
  • A bangle

  • Embroidery thread and needle

  • Three feathers

  • One large bead and about 12 small

costings:

If you use an old unwanted bangle and find the feathers yourself as opposed to buying them, you will only need to buy embroidery thread and some beads. Even with the cost of these items your dream catcher should still cost you less than £2.50 to make.

Buying a bangle and feathers should not bring the price up too much, costing you no more than £3.

Step 1:

Take a long length of thread and secure it around the bangle. Tie a double knot and add a little superglue or nail polish to ensure it doesn't come undone.

Wrap the thread all the way around the bangle.

Step 2:

Step 3:

As the pattern nears the centre, leave a space big enough for the large bead.

Thread your bead into the centre and secure.

Tie the thread in a double knot and use a little super glue or nail polish to secure.

Step 4:

Tie some thread onto the top of the ring for hanging the dreamcatcher.

Bring the thread through the loop.

Next you will need a piece of thread approx 4" long

Pull tight and it will secure the bead.

Take the thread through a small bead as seen above, leaving a loop

Add two more beads.

Tie one end of the thread to the ring. With the other end, thread on a bead and attach a feather.

Repeat these steps twice more until the dreamcatcher has three feathers hanging from it.

Add a little superglue or nail polish to the knots to ensure they stay.
