Notebook

Notebooks make lovely gifts. Handmaking one for someone is even nicer! You can save money and personalise it to their tastes. You can make something that looks beautiful and is suprisingly simple and cheap to make.
you will need:
-
5-7 sheets of paper (depending how thick). For a smaller notebook 7" x 5.5" is a good size. For a fairly standard sized one, 8" x 10" is ideal.
-
Some thick paper/card to make the cover. You can use nice patterned card or you can use plain and decorate it yourself. Make sure your card is bigger than the sheets of paper that will make up the inside of the notebook.
-
Glue
-
A hole puncher
-
Some thread or ribbon

costings:
You may well already have paper, card and ribbon. If so, this gift will be free to make.
If you need to buy any of these things, it should still cost you under £3.
Step 1:

Stack your sheets of paper neatly on top of each other.

Fold them in half horizantally.
Step 2:

Rotate your paper so it's like a book.

Hole punch your paper.
Step 3:

If you're making a larger notebook you may want to add a third hole.

Feed your string/ribbon through the top hole from the back.

Next feed it through the bottom hole from the front.

If you open your book up it will look like this.

Feed the string/ribbon up the middle of the book, under the binding you just made.

Pull tight and tie the ends of the string/ribbon together.
Step 4:

Now you will need the piece of card you are using for the cover.

Place your book of paper on the card. Make sure it's centred.

Simply glue the front and back page of your paper to the cover and you're done!
