These gift boxes are quick and easy to make and are a great addition to other handmade gifts such as jewellery, dreamcatchers and origami decorations.

you will need:
  • 2 pieces of paper/card 6"x6"

costings:

If you already have suitable paper/card, this gift will be absolutely free to make.

Even if you buy your paper, it should still cost you under £1.

Step 1:

Choose which square of paper you want to use for the base of the box.

Flip your paper over and make creases horizontally and vertically.

Fold the corners into the middle.

Step 2:

Fold your paper into the middle as seen above.

Once you've done this, unfold, rotate your paper 90 degrees and repeat.

Unfold again and your paper should have creases in it like this.

Step 3:

Unfold the bottom and top flaps as seen above.

Do a reverse fold on the bit circled red above.

Repeat on the right side as well.

Fold down the top flap as seen above.

Step 4:

Rotate 180 degrees and repeat step 3. You should now have created the base of the box.

Step 5:

To make the cover for your box the process is exactly the same with a slight difference at step no. 2.

When you fold your paper be sure not to do it all the way to the centre. Leave a small space of approx 2-3mm. This will ensure that the cover is slightly larger than the base.

Step 6:

Once you have completed the cover, put the base and cover together and you have a box!
